# Flour prices by city in Pakistan

The same bag of flour can cost 40% more in one city than another. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics' weekly **Sensitive Price Indicator** records 30 essentials in 17 cities, and PakDataHub serves every one of them as a clean weekly series.

## Wheat flour, 20 kg bag (week to 17 Sep 2026)

| City | Rs |
|---|---|
| Faisalabad | 2,200 |
| Lahore | 2,219 |
| Multan | 2,358 |
| **National average** | **2,700** |
| Peshawar | 2,843 |
| Quetta | 2,970 |
| Islamabad | 2,993 |
| Karachi | 3,066 |

Punjab's wheat belt is cheapest. Karachi, Islamabad and Hyderabad pay the most.

The same works for `sugar`, `cooking_oil`, `vegetable_ghee_tin`, `rice_basmati`, `milk_fresh`, `eggs`, `chicken`, `petrol`, `diesel`, `lpg` and the rest of the [30 items](https://pakdatahub.com/docs/api-commodities.md).

## Cost of living by city

PakDataHub also builds a weekly **cost-of-living index** per city (`cost_of_living.<city>`) by rebasing each essential's price to 100 in late June 2025 and averaging. By mid-September 2026:
- **National:** 125.3, meaning essentials cost about **25% more** than in June 2025.
- **Highest:** Peshawar (133.9) and Sialkot (133.3).
- **Lowest:** Larkana (119.8) and Hyderabad (120.9).
