# Provinces & districts

The granular layer: every district (and, for the census, every tehsil, taluka and sub-division) in one API. 32 series from the **Pakistan Bureau of Statistics**.

| | |
|---|---|
| Module | `regional` |
| Frequency | Census (2023, 2024) and survey years (LFS, HIES) |
| Endpoint | [`/v1/series/{id}`](https://pakdatahub.com/docs/api-series.md), filtered with `dims` |

Each series covers every area at once. Pick one with `dims`: `province` (Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Islamabad), `district` (absent on province rows) and, where it applies, `subdistrict` + `unit_type`, `locality` (total, rural, urban) and `sex` (all, male, female, transgender). Names are PBS's own, in title case ("Rahim Yar Khan", "Kambar Shahdad Kot"); see a series' values without `dims` to list them.

## Census 2023 (7th Population & Housing Census)

Dated 2023-12-31; enumeration ran March to May 2023. Province, district and sub-district rows (tehsil, taluka, sub-division, sub-tehsil). Balochistan nests sub-tehsils inside tehsils, so don't add up sub-district rows.
