Commodity Prices

Thirty essential retail items, national average and seventeen cities

Weekly · Rolling year · 561 series

The commodities module is the weekly price of daily life. It carries thirty essential retail items — wheat flour, rice, sugar, pulses, ghee, fuel and more — as a national average and across seventeen cities, sampled every week from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics' Sensitive Price Indicator.

Because it is item-level and city-level, it does what a single inflation number cannot: show where a price moved, how far, and how unevenly across the country. Chart one item nationally, compare a staple across cities, or assemble your own weighted basket for a cost-of-living view. Every item is a clean weekly series, ready as JSON or CSV.

Use cases

• Track retail prices of essentials nationally and across 17 cities
• Build a cost-of-living or grocery-basket index from raw item prices
• Compare regional price dispersion for the same item over time
• Give a margin or procurement model a weekly price feed
